Rajeev Rai began his political journey with the Samajwadi Party in 2005, entering public life with a background outside traditional politics. In the early years, he focused on organisational work, contributing to party outreach, coordination, and internal structure.
Through consistent involvement and close engagement with leadership, he gradually established himself as a dependable organisational figure, building the foundation for his later roles within the party.

His role within the party gained prominence during the 2012 Uttar Pradesh elections, where he was part of the core leadership group associated with Akhilesh Yadav. This period marked his emergence as a key organisational figure and a prominent public voice during a defining phase for the party.
Multiple media outlets referred to him as one of the key contributors behind the party’s 2012 success, highlighting his role in communication strategy, outreach, and coordination during the campaign.

As National Secretary and official spokesperson, Rajeev Rai emerged as one of the most visible and consistent public faces of the Samajwadi Party. He regularly represented the party across national television, policy discussions, and media platforms, articulating its positions on governance, elections, and public policy.
His role went beyond routine communication — he became central to shaping the party’s narrative during key political phases, ensuring clarity, consistency, and responsiveness in public discourse.

Alongside his media presence, Rajeev Rai played an active role in organisational development within the party. He contributed to strengthening internal structure, coordinating outreach, and supporting leadership across regions.
His responsibilities extended beyond Uttar Pradesh, including involvement in expanding the party’s engagement in southern India. This work reflected a broader focus on long-term organisational growth and building connections beyond traditional political boundaries.

In 2024, Rajeev Rai was elected as Member of Parliament from Ghosi, marking a defining milestone in his political journey. His victory, secured with over 500,000 votes and a significant margin, reflected both his long-standing association with the constituency and years of work within the party.
The election represented a transition from organisational leadership and public communication into direct legislative responsibility, bringing his experience into Parliament.

As a Member of Parliament in the 18th Lok Sabha, Rajeev Rai has maintained a strong record of participation and engagement. His attendance, number of debates, and parliamentary questions have consistently been in top 1% of parliamentarians reflecting an active approach to legislative work.
He has contributed to discussions across a range of issues including education, employment, welfare, and governance, combining constituency concerns with broader national policy engagement.

During Operation Sindoor, Rajeev Rai engaged with national and international media, articulating India’s position on global security and terrorism while representing the country in a multi-party parliamentary delegation.

The delegation held high-level meetings across Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Latvia, and Russia, interacting with ministers, parliamentarians, and policy bodies to strengthen strategic ties and present India’s stance on terrorism.

Representing India on the international stage during Operation Sindoor, Rajeev Rai engaged with global stakeholders and diaspora communities, reinforcing India’s position on security, cooperation, and international partnerships.
